MiniKeys

In MiniKeys, our youngest students build a musical foundation using voice, piano and percussion – in a small group setting. Especially for 4-5 year olds

Through fun, game-based activities, kids learn the basic skills to play in a group and have a blast while doing it!

6 Reasons Everyone Needs to Play Music

Music builds confidence. Every part of a musical group is essential and being part of that big picture is huge. Whether it’s one note , or a massive solo, the group needs you and pulling that off builds confidence. Huge confidence.

Music is about communication. Playing in a band isn’t that different from playing a sport when it comes to how essential it is to communicate with others. Get good at that, and you’ve got a skill you can use in music and beyond.

Music is about creativity. From songwriting to arranging a cover tune, music challenges kids to imagine new possibilities. And when done as a team, the possibilities are endless.

Music is ridiculously fun. Forget about the piano lessons you took as a kid that you begged to quit for years. Fun is one of the main two motivators for a child and there’s nothing more fun than playing music with your peers. These band classes are a blast!

Making music is work. There is no sugar coating the fact that developing the tools to make music with others demands a work ethic. Musicians can learn alone but there is nothing like the motivation of others to take it to the next level.

Music requires skills. Playing in a band is the best way we know to get kids to deal with the fact that playing an instrument or singing on key….well….it ain’t always easy. A band helps each musician define the exact skills they need. And better yet gives them a clear goal for their practice time at home.

What BMF Parents Are Saying

“It was really to get more involved with instruments. To actually learn to play rhythms and tunes, rather than just learning to sing a song or follow along, which seemed to be what most of the other programs were doing. They’re now interacting with a real drum set and piano, and playing a song with each other which I thought was really unique.”

– Mary, a MiniKeys Mom

“Mini-Keys is a fun, stress-free intro to playing music with others.

My daughter loved it, and I saw her musical sense increase as the year went on.”

– Heather, a Mini Keys Mom

“My son had a fantastic experience with BMF’s Mini-Keys. The energizing, fun and thoughtful program was the ideal way to introduce him to a range of different instruments – and hopefully set him on the road to a life full of music-making”

-Jasper, A Mini Keys Dad
